The Fort Belvoir Elementary School (FBES) community is facing unfortunate allegations that a teacher engaged in inappropriate behavior with her students involving providing candy to those who smelled her feet. It’s unclear what prompted these arrangements but obvious concern would lead to action from the faculty involving parents who were shocked to learn this was taking place.

Fort Belvoir Elementary School Sub Allegedly Engaged Inappropriately With Students

At Fort Belvoir Elementary School, Tamrin Henderson was known as a substitute teacher for grades 1-3; however, she has since been relieved of her duty after disturbing allegations involving students.

According to parents, the teacher was fired because multiple students were being given candy in exchange for smelling her feet.

The Virginia school is located on the military base of the same name and is owned and operated by Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).

Principal Notifies Parents

Multiple parents in the Fort Belvoir community were shocked to learn that Henderson allegedly engaged in the concerning behavior and it’s been reported that they were notified of these events by the principal, Lazedrick Jemison.

Once Jemison found out about the supposed incidents, he notified parents in the community and it’s believed that Henderson has been terminated.

At this time, it still isn’t 100% clear how Jemison found out about the alleged actions by Henderson, but there were parents raising concerns after odd conversations with their children.

Candy Canes and Odd Conversations

At least one frustrated child spoke to their parents about their day at FBES and noted that she didn’t receive a candy cane.

After discussing the incident with their child, the parents were shocked to discover that they were being offered the candy in exchange for smelling Henderson’s feet.

This prompted the parents to notify Principal Jemison, and while it’s unclear whether or not this was the first he heard of the matter, many parents have since confirmed that they were notified in the aftermath.

Resources for Fort Belvoir Elementary School Parents

While it’s worth noting that the school does seem to be taking the appropriate steps in response to these allegations, if you would like to learn more, reaching out to FBES itself is an important option for the community.

Furthermore, the military parent resource center from Military OneSource is also available for those looking for options outside of Fort Belvoir Elementary School.
