PCSing can be challenging, but this is especially true if your PCSing while pregnant. Making a decision quickly is crucial, especially if you are a military spouse. You must be ready and know what to do once they assign and release the area you need to be in. You must also stay positive. We're here to share some tips to help you seamlessly tackle your next move to a permanent station while pregnant.

Plan and Stay Organized

The first and very important step is to plan and stay organized. Keeping yourself or the things you have organized will lessen the stress of moving to another place, which is good for you and the baby. You cannot put yourself at risk at this time, so it is important to have a concrete plan, whether plan A, plan B, or plan C.

You must always have a reserve plan ahead of time. Of course, in creating this plan, you should have a support system like your family. Even though they will be far away, they are still there to help you with this process.

Consider seeing the area that you will be moving to, explore the local community, the neighborhood, the school, and research healthcare providers.

During the packing stage, consider setting yourself up for success later with good storage, so that you will not be as stressed out later in the move. In line with this, consider prioritizing your pregnancy pack, as you might be near your due date during the move, and it helps to be prepared at all times.

Communicate with Healthcare Providers

When assigned to a new area, it’s important to communicate with your previous healthcare providers, which can help you have a good healthcare plan for when your baby comes so you will not be so stressed out.

All of your needs and your baby will be taken care of because of the plan provided. With this, you must check a new healthcare provider and facility in your new area, make a contact inquiry, and make sure that they have an outstanding quality of care.

Let them know about your plan with your previous healthcare providers so that you are all set, and you don’t have to worry so much as there are people assigned on the next station to help you out.

Prioritize Physical and Mental Well-Being

You cannot let yourself be so tired and drained. This is especially true when PCSing while pregnant, as it can make emotions high. You must prioritize looking after your physical and mental well-being so that when the baby comes, you are calm, you know what to do, and you can manage it.

We know that sometimes a mother goes through postpartum depression, and we cannot prevent it. That’s why you make sure that you have a great healthcare provider or a support system, can be a nurse, babysitter, or someone you can trust to help you during this time.

Take a bath, go to a spa, eat healthily, and stay hydrated. Sometimes, having a healthy meal plan helps you to prevent the stress of thinking about what to eat.

Set your mind to think positively for yourself, your family, and especially for the baby.

Prepare for Unexpected Challenges

We all know that there are unexpected situations that hit us, so we must be prepared and plan ahead.

We cannot prevent a lot of things from happening, but there are some that we have control of. That’s why having a concrete plan will help you overcome these unexpected challenges.

That's why having a well-thought out plan will help you stand on your feet, gain more confidence, and help you set your mind when moving to another area.

We cannot feel weak; we cannot let negativity get through our minds. However, it’s ok if we feel a bit overwhelmed with the move while being pregnant. But remember that you must do things with proper composure, mindset, and balance, as sometimes things are beyond your control. You are stronger, even when PCSing while pregnant.
